Wobbly shake at 50 thro 70

Just got this harbinger of doom, the previous owners all should be seriously reprimanded for common
neglect, it,s a 1.9tdi/115 mk2 with 168.000 miles( recorded) while on the test drive I never got to a speed
where I could find out that it was in limp:this would seem to be lack of everything servicewise, but  when
on the motorway,I noticed a shake/wobbly sensation, coming through the vehicle, I spent 40 years in the
tyre business, and I was certain it was not tyre related(all four checked and rebalanced just in case) if it
had been a rear wheel drive, I would have immediately suspected the prop shaft bearingsETC. having read
59 posts, I suspect the engine mounts, can anyone shed light please,BH.

The most likely cause is a worn inner CV joint, they are a tripod type affair on these which wear causing the symptoms you describe.

Many thanks Mirez, it,s going in today for a timing belt+general quote, I will add this to the list, which as it
happens is Orang utan arms in length; it is only this site which is keeping me from selling it on as spares.
