replacing drivers side wing mirror mk3 galaxy zetec

Some tool decided they wanted to drive in the middle of the road over a narrow bridge and clipped my wing mirror.  Glass is fine but it broke the plastic off so I bought a new one.  Looks simple enough to replace as its just the one bolt however it looks like I need to remove the whole door panel to get access.  I've removed the 4 screws from the outside but its not coming off.  I figure I need to clip off the door handle(interior). However its raining and my garage is filled will Christmas clutter so rather than get wet trying to figure this out was wondering if anyone else had done this?  Can't find a Haynes manual for the mark 3 or any useful YouTube vids so was wondering if anyone could giver some pointers.

I have a slightly loose mirror of the passenger side and thought I'd tighten it but had the same problem even with the covers off I could not work out how to tighten it - sorry not much help but please post if you work it out because it will also help me

Hi.

I have power folding mirrors.
The passenger side mirror struggles to fold; it manages it, but folds slower than driver's side. (car done 23K, but out of warranty).
Ford stealers said all they can do is replace the whole unit (does nobody repair anything anymore?!)

Any advice (as requested above) on how to open and what to look for would be appreciated.

perhaps some silicone spray may free it up a tad.
