Hi All,

Sorry I know this has been covered many times before on many forums but Iââ,¬â,,¢m really struggling. I have a 05 Ford Galaxy 1.9 with a central locking\key reprogramming issue.  We have two 5WK4790/97/98 keys, one stopped working with the central locking months ago but still works for the immobiliser, the other stopped working with the central locking a couple of weeks back but also still works with the immobiliser so I assumed it was battery related as the led on the keyââ,¬â,,¢s werenââ,¬â,,¢t flashing when pressing buttons.

So I replaced the batteries in both keys, one key seemed to be functioning better as the led flashed on it, but not on the other.  Both still worked for the immobiliser but neither with the central locking.

So I tried the following to re-programme the keys:

1) Insert the key into the drivers door lock and rotate it to the unlock position (Forward) - hold for 1 second
2) Return to the rest position, pause briefly and then rotate to the unlock position again - hold for 1 second
3) Return to the rest position again, pause briefly and then rotate to the unlock position for a third time.
The alarm/immobiliser LED on the door should illuminate to indicate the activation of programming mode:
4) On the first remote key press and hold the Lock button
5) Whilst keeping the lock button depressed, press and release the unlock button 3 times
6) Release both buttons - the LED on the key will blink along with the LED on the drivers door to confirm successful coding.

The problem is at no point during step 6 did the drivers door LED blink, it flashed away quite happily on the key but no flashing LED on the door, it just stayed on for around 15 seconds before going out.  Neither key worked with the central locking, both still worked for the immobiliser.

So then I thought maybe the keys were defective, so I ordered some second hand known to be working replacements making sure they were exactly the same circuit and frequency as the originals i.e. SIEMANS 433.92MHZ

So the new keys arrived today, Iââ,¬â,,¢ve used the key which the ledââ,¬â,,¢s werenââ,¬â,,¢t working on as the test and swapped circuits.  The good news is the LEDââ,¬â,,¢s are now working on the Key and it still works with the immobiliser, the bad news, I still canââ,¬â,,¢t get the blasted thing to sync with the car as the door LED just will not blink to confirm successful syncing. Iââ,¬â,,¢ve pointed the key at the rear view mirror, under the steering column with and without the door open and various other positions all round the car, nothing!

So it looks like the car isnââ,¬â,,¢t listening, what on earth can I try now?

Any help would be much appreciated

just a thought, your new keys did they come with all the gubbins in them??

if so carefully put your working pats chip in them and try to reprogram them.
as it might be that the pcbs are beginning to fail.has been known that the crack.

Have similar problem,  got galaxy few months back and trying to get second key bought from ebay paired with central locking but always get no flash on door led and about 5 flashes on the key.  I've successfully paired two different keys with the car but sold one of them with old galaxy thus need another one.

Is there any way how to get it paired via vcds?

Hi,

Ok so some progress with this.

I unlocked my car with one of the old keys and set the car in programming mode, then without removing the key from the lock I took one of the new keys and did the re-programming steps and lo and behold the door led started to flash and the key actually synced with the car and now works with the central locking!

However the other key still isnââ,¬â,,¢t syncing so Iââ,¬â,,¢m going to send it back as clearly itââ,¬â,,¢s not transmitting the signal.
