Thanks for looking had an problem on starting 2003 2.3 petrol manual
turn key everything lights up but car wont start unless i keep ignition key turned and i bridge  starter motor trigger lead to battery ? i have read problems with relays ? any ideas gratefully received

That sounds like it could be the relay 30 problem, I believe a defective relay 30 prevents cranking when the fault occurs, somebody else should be able to confirm this.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!

Yeah I also believe thats the case, like you I'm not 100% but it's certainly a known weak point on the petrols
