Hi pls can someone help me I have a 2000 mkII galaxy that has an intermittent fault that has slowly become a permanent fault. Every so often the glow plug dash light would fail to illuminate when the ignition was turned if this light did not show up the engine will not start. If the car was locked up and left alone for a while then retried it would then behave correctly the glow light would illuminate and the engine will start
This problem only happened every so often but it has now started to happen very regularly and now at present the car is broken down completely and will not start
I have been able to use easy start to make it start when not able to wait but even this does not seem to work anymore engine fails to run as soon as you stop spraying
Pls help am all out of ideas
Adam

Whats the light on the drivers door doing? Sounds very much like a failing/failed relay 109.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

I have been told that immobiliser does not affect the glow lights but when I try to start engine the light on drivers door stays on (with ign on) if glow light comes on it will start
How do you check a relay

Just checked and I have already played with this relay 109 when car was playing up before I removed relay 109 and the car was working ok with no relay 109 but have tried this time with and without relay and still the glow light fails to illuminate. Can this relay control the glow light/plug working

This relay suffers with bad solder joints, if your handy with a soldering iron you can repair this yourself, having said that the relay is not an expensive item the problem is getting to it
