Another newbie with a duff key fob

I suspect this has been asked before but, we collected our '09 TDCI yesterday and I didn't think to check both keyfobs worked. Wifey had an issue when she used the car and when I checked I found one fob worked OK, the other sort-of-did-a-bit, then didn't. I suspected a dead battery, but changed this this morning and same result, wouldn't unlock/lock the car (it will start though, so the immobiliser transponder is in place and OK. checked both the new and old batteries and found the old one was still pushing out over 3 volts. Contacted the dealer and they've said they'll sort it but I thought I'd see if I could do anything simple to fix the problem without the hassle of getting said dealer to collect/fix/return.
I've read about re-coding fobs on older Galaxys, is it the same for the MKIII's?

Sounds much more like the fob is defective rather then a programming issue as normally if its lost its coding it won't work at all.

However, if you do want to code the fobs its a different procedure to the Mk1/2:

1. Fasten the safety belts and close all doors to make sure that conflicting chimes do not sound during programming.
2. Turn the ignition switch from position I to position II four times within six seconds.
3. Turn the ignition switch to position I. An audible chime will be heard to indicate that learning mode is enabled.
4. Press and hold one of the buttons on the remote transmitter until a chime sounds. This indicates the remote transmitter code has been successfully received.
5. Repeat step 4, within 10 seconds, for any other transmitters you have.
6. Wait 10 seconds or turn the ignition switch to position II to exit learning mode.
7. Test all the programmed remote transmitters, by activating and deactivating the locking/unlocking functions.

Feeling confirmed Mirez, just tried the re-code procedure you supplied (thank you), learning mode enabled fine but pressing & holding the remote transmitter button produced no result, so back to the dealer who sold me the car for this one, who to their credit thus far have not tried to BS me so we'll see what happens this week

Well hopefully you'll get it sorted then - always nice when you've bought from a decent dealer!
