Hello, my passenger side window switch has stopped working and i would like to take a look at the button itself. I would like to know how to access the button, do i have to take whole door apart or is there some tricky way to just get the button out?

I can't say for sure on the Mk1 but you shouldn't have to remove the door trim panel to get it out, usually there are a couple of sprung lugs on the switch body which clip it into place and some delicate work with a small flat bladed screwdriver should release it, be careful not to mark / gouge the surrounding trim though.

Looking at the parts diagram would suggest that the surround (numbers 16-21a on the diagram depending on the style) is removed first, this is likely to be clipped in with plastic lugs. Once the cover is off the switch is separate (item 9 or 10 here depending on if it's a single or double switch), and should be fairly easy to remove with a small screwdriver.
Always learning..... Often by mistakes!
