Passenger window dropped.

Hi all again.As mentioned early flew mot all good.The money I saved (just in case of repairs )I purchased wind deflectors for the windows.Fitted them last night .(don't think they caused issie.)
Today the passenger window appears to be disconnected from the motor. Manged to close window by forcing up and jamming a peg ! into the window to stop it dropping.The window itself has been juddery and  slow to close and open in the last week.Ill take panel off on weekend.Any ides before I start.You can here the motor working when you press the button up/down.My last car had same prob on drivers side it was asteel cable that rusted and snapped, but was a pig to repair ,gave up in the end.
So much for paying for wind defenders.lol.

If you can still hear the motor working then I'm afraid a snapped wire cable on the regulator mechanism is one of the most likely causes. Other causes could be stripped teeth on the gear of the motor, a wire that's jumped off of one of the pulleys or a window that's managed to pull itself out of the clamps of the regulator mechanism.

Until you get the door trim off to take a look, you won't know which unfortunately.

Yea the two clamps  that hold the glass, it's quite common for the glass to pull out, the thin rubber packing disintegrates leaving the glass slipping out of the clamps.
A substitute for the rubber packing is an old innertube

take a good look in the bottom of the door for the rubber.

you may well be VERY lucky if you havnt stripped the spool within the regulator/motor.you can buy repair kits from ebay.
once you have mended it all,i would using some silicone spray/grease on the window runners to stop the glass sticking.

Going to take panel off today.Yesterday the window suddenly worked when I pressed the button.It was very juddery and only went 2/3 inches.Hopefully this means it just slipped off slider.I still had to pull window up.

if its only gone up 2-3 inches then i would suspect it has over spooled.which means taking the thing apart and inspecting the plastic spool,by the way you really need 3 hands when you do this.

hi all thanks for the advice.Now fixed. The glass had come out of the clamps which have rubber on them. It just need refitting and retightening up.
One bit of advice ..When putting panel card back on have the window in the down position its much easier to fit top of panel card on.
