Hello folks
Reg here, in Bristol.
Just bought a 1999 V galaxy 19,tdi 110
In dark metallic green with 1 blue door
( very rare, limited edition cant get these in the shops y'know)
My first car in 12 years, had vans plus motorbikes mostly

Anyway it was temptingly cheap with long mot and tax, sweet 122K motor
recent cam belt, oil, filters clutch, battery and stuff.
Good tyres too.
the snag is ( there's always a snag eh?)
It was stuck in third and I've just pulled the selector  to find the inner bolt had sheared off
and the outer one as missing.
I took pics, will post em later.
SH selector unit on its way and will spend the weekend fishing for the bolt head and
I noticed there's gear oil leak too.
Fingers crossed i can get the thing running/driveable next week and get stuck ino the various other
less important jobs that need doing.

Q1
I have yet to grovel about underneath but is there a common point for the gearbox to leak?
drive shaft etc?
thanks

Hello and  welcome5

Drive shaft seals will probably be favourite but as the car is new to you it could be something more sinister, you will need to remove the undercover to get a good look.

Sorry for the late reply
That car was an utter utter nightmare and scrapped soon after I posted the above message
I bought it a rush and left my brains at home, shouldnt have touched it.

I forgot I'd joined this forum back then until I tried to join just now.
Anyway I have newer better one (low miles last owner a proper mechanic)
and fingers crossed/touch wood it's going well and giving good service
