engine shaking at idle

hi all
I have a 01 galaxy 1.9tdi that shakes/vibrates at idle, you can feel the shake through the steering wheel seats etc, here's a link to a vid of it:
has anyone had this issue or can point me in the right direction, I was thinking maybe a faulty injector but have no smoke or any loss of power that I can feel.

Thanks in advance for any help. J

Does it run ok when the revs increase? Any warning lamps illuminated on the instrument cluster? If you are able to check for fault codes with VAG-com (or have somebody do it for you) then that may be a good place to start. Has the vehicle covered a lot of miles?

Hi thanks for the reply
It runs fine doesn't smoke nor does it struggle for power but you can still feel the vibrations all through the gears not so bad at 60 or revs above 2krpm.

I had the codes scanned nothing showed but I'm not to sure what system he had looked like a hand held scanner..he said nothing would show anyway as no lights were on.

I'm looking into purchasing vcds or finding someone locally that can do it for me as the local vw specialist can't fit me in for 2 weeks.

Current mileage 140k

Has it had a clutch or dual mass flywheel replacement to your knowledge? Possibly if the flywheel is on it's way out it could cause vibration. Is the idle smooth- i.e, does it stick at steady revs or do the revs fluctuate?

hi
sounds like a fuel restriction of some sort just on the idle. Something cheap to try is a product called power plus made my a company called millers.
what to do is take fuel filter off empty some of the diesel and replace it with this stuff and also put some in the tank and see if that helps.

Have you checked all the engine mountings for play? It's hard to diagnose but from a sound point, the engine sounds ok so just wondering if one of the mounts has failed and is allowing the engine to move?

Not sure about the vibration from the video but fault codes do not necessarily bring up any warning lights and if it was scanned by a mechanic I would expect them to have known that.

Definitely worth getting yourself a lead and getting familiar with the software.  I believe there's some info/guides in the reference library.

Watching and listening to the video it looks normal.
Wouldn't think you have an injector wiring fault as it is usually more pronounced and sometimes just intermittent, still worth checking with VCDS lite/Vagcom as you may have other faults present.
Engine mountings also likely especially the roll restrictor underneath the engine, try pulling and pushing on the engine for looseness and of course duel mass flywheel if you have manual transmission usually worse when under load.

Other vibrations on the move could be down to driveshaft joints, more info on this and VCDS look in our reference library.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Thanks for all the replies

Engine mounts seem ok doesn't seem to be any play in them but I will get a garage to double check

I'm leaning towards dmf now as it seems to get worse when I release the clutch, if I sit in neutral and rev at about 3k the car slightly moves and you can smell the clutch burning.

I had someone come round and put it on vcds, results posted do the injectors look ok??

Not sure about shaking while driving but when the one-way clutch on the alternator seized in my Galaxy, the idle was rough enough to make it noticeable.
Is there a squeal from the engine bay when you start the car in the morning?
Not 100% sure if the one-way clutch was fitted to 01 Galaxys?

From memory the readings above are OK did you not see the limits on that measuring block.
