Intermittent turbo

I have a 2001 galaxy tdi  and recently developed intermitant turbo problem some days works fine  on a journey then turbo just don't cut in and car looses power ?? Any advice greatly appreciated thx

Firstly you need to scan for fault codes to determine if you have a boost issue which could be under or over boost or a MAF sensor problem.
Look in our reference library for help with vagcom/vcds diagnostic leads available from eBay for under 10 quid.

Cars running ok sounds ok just no turbo at all unable to read codes at mo.  Drives ok no smoke just no turbo and very flat

Its most likely tripping into limp-home mode. Do you have power most days from the off and then it occasionally looses it? When it does loose it, if you turn the engine off and on again does it come back?

Hey mirez I have an 03 galaxy 1.9tdi 130bhp it does the same thing sometimes when you reach about 50mph it goes into limp mode. On my fault code reader it brings up boost control something or other. When you turn ignition off and back on again the turbo will run fine again. Maybe go for a month or so before it would lose power again. Do you think the n75 valve needs replaced??

If your going to quote something from your fault code reader you need to be more precise, "something or other" is not good enough we need the actual code and phrase.
N75 is a possibility but wouldn't be my first choice, turbo vanes sticking is more likely depending whether under or over boost

Sorry P1557 Charge Pressure Control: Positive Deviation.
I found a vacuum hose that was pulled off the egr valve with a screw inserted and from a diagram in my haynes manual it shows it going from the egr valve to the boost pressure control solenoid. Could that be my problem? Cheers

The pipe with the screw in goes to the EGR solenoid (N18) not the boost solenoid (N75).
NO The EGR pipe being plugged will not cause the problem.
Positive deviation is overboost .
