New battery fitted, all dashboard lights, turn key nothing happens, no solenoid click any ideas ?

Whats the door LED doing when you try and start? Normally a PATS/ Immobiliser fault will flash the LED and allow the engine to start momentarily so I think we can rule that out.

The lack of a solenoid click is a bit of clue, either the ECU's not getting the command to start (ignition barrel fault) or more likely the starter motor itself is faulty. Its not unknown for the starter cable to corrode heavily at the starter end.

I would be looking at:

1) Check the mini fuse box in the engine bay
2) Check condition of the cable to the starter
3) Test or replace the starter motor

  You don't say if your manual or auto as you may have inhibitor  problems if an auto.
You could check terminal 50 on the rear of ignition switch is live when turning key to start position, this will rule out the key switch

What engines in there? And is is an 04 or a 54 - there was an ECU revision around that year so it might have a revised immobiliser method as the diesels normally start and immediately stall if the immobiliser is active. However the flashing LED is a definite immobiliser issue. There is a transponder chip in each key which can go AWOL, especially if you have recently changed the battery so as Greg says try with another key and see if that makes any difference.

It's an 04, tried spare key exactly the same, nothing happening

Success!! Up and running. Immobiliser ok, battery bit low even though new jump leads and hit starter and away we go. Obviously starter on way out so will have to replace. Thanks for all the input.

The light for the immobiliser isn't flashing anymore, I hadn't disarmed alarm properly.
