Mk1 Galaxy 2.3 Ghia questions

Hi,
I've just joined what appears to be a very good Galaxy info service, hopefully even better if you are able to advise accordingly!

I have a Mk1 Galaxy 2.3 ghia, manual 97 (we've had it from new and it has 108k on the clock) that I am looking to sell, as we no longer need a car of this size. It has been on SORN for the last 2 years approx, and obviously not driven at all. I put a new battery on and it started immediately, so all appears to be good mechanically.
Prior to selling I would like to MOT it to give the buyer peace of mind, as everything is hopefully all ok. The only problem I have is that the Airbag light is permanently on! This was on for approx 1 year before we stopped using the car but, I have been told that the car will now fail the MOT with the warning light showing!

The questions are: 1, would it be worth getting an MOT? 2, What is involved and at what cost? 3, What is the car likely to be worth?

I look forward to any suggestions/comments
Regards

started 1st time eh?sounds like mechanically its a good car, being a petrol people will think its a fuel muncher,i know when i had my mk1 2ltr petrol it wasnt the best for fuel economy.
like anything in life if you wanted to buy your car from a dealer you may find it advertised for silly money, but as your the 1 selling probably wont be worth more then Ã,£1500??check out the prices either on line or next time your in your local supermarket  ;)
airbag light may well be the clock spring, again i had this on my mk1  ::) and yes i do believe it will fail with it on.
as for the cost whatever your local mot stations are charging??? dont know the rules about getting it mot'd without road tax and insurance?i do know that if its taxed and insured aslong as its a prebooked mot you are allowed to drive it on the road.so you may have to arrange for it to be picked up?

Thanks for the welcome Gregers and your comments, much appreciated.
You're right, they're not the best for fuel economy, although a lot less juicier than the 2.8 version!

All in all it's a very sound car, just not what we need now. Hopefully it will serve someone as good as it has for us. The condition is pretty good, typical for the age I guess!

Re the MOT; As you mention I'm sure it's ok if I've booked the MOT and have insurance for the car, to get it there and back.

Cheers again.

Yes if you've got a pre-booked MoT you can legally drive it there without tax (you'll still need insurance). The return journey is the problem (obviously only if it fails). My understanding is that you can only drive it away from the MoT centre to a repair garage (ie not home) via the most direct route - again I suspect it should be pre-arranged.
