Hi chaps

Need some quick advise as the Gal is giving me some issues and thought I'd ask you guys before I go any further and next week is an issue getting the car to a garage due to hospital appointments and work :(

Anyway..... noticed a week or so ago that there seemed to be a kind of flat spot when going along intermittantly but lasted a couple of seconds and went away. This week however it seems to be back.

Basically when accelerating it's as if something is blocking an injector and the car kinda jumps (not quite as bad as if you were kangarooing it when you were young) but if the engine is struggling with the fuel going through etc. When you stop after this the idling is rough as hell.

I have had issues with the turbo before but some redex/wynns and a blast down the motorway fixed the limp mode issue and initiallly I didn't think it could be this (I have tried the wynns earlier this week but still not happy).

The only thing I have noticed is that if you turn the car on and off generally (not every time) then it seems to reset (hence me thinking turbo vanes) but usually the turbo issue is a complete lack of power and this is more like the injectors or something not all firing correctly - could it be do anything to do with the MAF?

Also I think it's worse when the car is cold or not up to the 90 operating temperature. I haven't monitored this bit too much but keep an eye to see if this is consistent with the issue.

Anyway, I talk too much so could any kind sir (or lady) give me any pointers what it could be please?

I do have a VAG Lite (and lead) at home somewhere so could hook that up and post back. If so, what module should I look at specifically?

Thanks again

WJUK

Hi Wacko

It doesn't sound like MAF or turbo problem more like intermittent injector connection, so hook up your VCDS lite and scan the engine module.
The injector wiring loom may need to be replaced.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Thanks Chris. Will reinstall VAG Lite tonight and have a play and post back.

I have chucked in some STP Injector stuff (Ã,£4) this morning with some new fuel to see if that helps as well.

Hey Chris

I think you could be spot on. Hooked up VCDS Lite about 20 minutes ago and got this code

18074 -  PD Unit Injector; Cylinder 1 (N240): Electrical Malfunction
        P1666 - 35-10 -   - - Intermittent

Also last night car ran shoddy until up to operating temperature then a quick turn on and off and it was fine.

Same again this morning when taking kids swimming.

Came out of swimming and took a couple of minutes to get up to operating temp (90) but no problems (I guess because it had warmed up earlier).

I have cleared the codes and will see what happens today/tomorrow.

Can anyone give me some pointers as to if this is a big problem or not and any idea of cost to replace the wiring etc.

Cheers Chris. Had it done this week and back to normal now :)

FYI VW price was Ã,£52.xx + VAT. Frauds wanted Ã,£135 + VAT.
