Hi, am trying to scan with vcds lite and am getting "no response from controller". Am pretty sure everything is the same as the last time I used it several months ago and then I do recall getting some codes produced from doing an engine module scan which is what I'm doing now. Should I reinstall the vagcom? That might mean messing around with the ports and coms I guess.. Is there anything different I can try? Direct access codes for modules? Thanks

Fire up laptop
plug in your lead to laptop
Go to device manager
double click on ports COM & LPT
double click USB serial port
Click on Port settings tab
Then click advanced
You should now be in advanced settings for COM and a number between 1 & 4 if it's not you need to change it
Now look at Latency timer that needs to be on 2 or 3
Once done click OK OK and close device manager

Open VCDS lite and click options
Check COM port matches the one in device manager
Click test
click save
Done

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

I did all above except for latency timer settings which I could not see an option for in device manager. When I did the test in vcds it said port status ok interface found latency test good. Still getting no response from controller. Com ports both on com4. Would it help if I used the direct entry address word option to scan?

Latency settings are not in device manager, it's in advanced port settings, look at the check list I gave you in the first post.

shouldn't make any difference using direct address

Can you connect to any of the other modules like Auto hvav, instruments, aux heat

What problem do you have with the car?

I meant in port settings. Anyway, when I did the test it came back saying latency ok. Am trying to see why the glow plug sign is flashing and turn it off. Am trying to scan with the ignition on. Next am going to try searching for modules. Any other ideas?

Ok, am getting no results from a module search... What's going wrong?

Correction - I got a result! Went to electronics 1 and to cent - elect and got the green writing coming up. Tried again in same place and now not working....

Sorry bout all that - finally found the fault!! By pressing the serial end in Constantly I could get it working (loose connection I guess) - got some fault codes and cleared them and now the flashing glow plug is gone. Result! Thanks again for all input

What fault codes did you get from your scan
