air con cuts out

hi just another post to ask another question for a problem that i have, it's abit clod for the air con!!! but when the air con is running every now and again it cuts out just for a second or two then it starts up again,
any ideas from the good people on this site.

it it auto or manual aircon?

Can you just clarify, is it the aircon cutting out/switching off now and again or the engine cutting out.
If your referring to the aircon cutting out, how do you know? what happens to make you think this.

the air con is manual.
you can tell the air con cuts out, when your under the bonnet the engine revs increase for a split second then they drop, just like when you switch the air con on,
also when your driving you can hear the noise drop in the car of the air coming out of the vents, again just for a split second then it starts again.
The air is stone cold as it should be but fust keeps stopping then starting again.

If your sure the actual compressor clutch is engaging/disengaging ? this is also monitored by diagnostics you need to invest in a vagcom cable and software and scan your vehicle.

hi I've used the vag com the other day, and no faults showed, will check again on Monday not at work, 
if no faults come up is there anything else that may be causing the problem?

Isn't that what works for?

These are complex cars so I would investigate that fault code you have in the other thread and rectify that - I wouldn't be at all surprised if its a by product of that code.

good point on work, shame my boss doesn't see it the same way

will do, hope it does, feels like there is a gremlin under the dash somewhere mixing all the wires
