Hi All,
Spoke to a ford dealer in Herne Bay (I'm in Canterbury area) to get some idea of pricing for some issues I suspect my V6 auto has.

They say for parts and labour just under Ã,£400 a side(!)
Ã,£80 for parts and labour per coil pack.

Do these prices seem right to you guys or can you recommend someone else more reasonable?

Thanks,
Dino

Quick ebay search complete driveshaft under Ã,£40 inner cv under Ã,£20

Ford dealers will be using genuine vw parts, with there own markup on top plus main dealer labour charge - hense those prices are expensive but inline with other main dealers.

Thanks for the eBay tip. Just had a quick look and yes seen the whole drive shaft (with what looks like inner and outer cv's) from car parts 4 less for Ã,£49. At the price would seem sensible just to change the entire shaft really.

How much labour approx to fit?

Anyone know of any good VW or other independents they would recommend for the job (Canterbury area ideally).

Just thought I'd give an update on this.
My local garage sourced a recon driveshaft (compete for passenger side). Too a week to come. The passenger side for the auto v6 seem scarce for some reason - on eBay the big sellers had stock for manuals and drivers but not the autos.

The part was Ã,£155.00 and they take the old one in exchange. 12 months warranty.
Total for job including labour was Ã,£225 (incl vat).

Forgot to say the vibrations from the driveshaft all gone now.
The shifts are better too but it could do with a fluid change I reckon (the auto box) so next job.

For the misfire I have used a Ã,£25.00 coil off eBay and it's allot better but there is still some roughness from idle to about 1,500 rpm that shouldn't be there.
Suspect MAF do will give it a clean (cleaning with switch cleaner worked well the MAF on my 2.8 BMW).

Car is due a service in 1k miles so will change plugs then but at 107k I expect MAF is probably on its way out (incidentally my BMW is on same mileage and the MAF needed a clean).

That's actually a fair price really and even better that its all resolved. My low end lumpiness was cured with about 3 replacement coil packs and plugs all around - they do seem to fair for a past time!

I was going to get the ones from Poland that you have tested but as cannot fit myself and worried about ordering the wrong parts I chose the simpler solution with the garage to fit. If it fails under warranty they will swap it out for me and get a new part.
I think when the other side goes I'll they the Polish part as looks like it will last longer.

Thanks for tips on the lumpiness. Did you not have any fault codes too to tell you which coils needed changing?
I guess they really should be changed as a set like with spark plugs..

No, didnt have any codes - just the lumpyness. To be fair, I bought that car as a non runner so a lumpy idle wasnt a big concern.
