We are about to purchase either a sharan or alhambra, however we were wondering, is there different suspension between them? We were hoping for something with the comfort/dynamic suspension but aren't sure if the alhambra has this. We have test drove the alhambra and the ride seems quite firm.

Good morning, Sharon!

I would go for the Alhamb. Different models of Alhamb have different suspension. The Stylance is the best. I have an Alhamb and the car positively glides along the road, as if it were a hockey puck on a clear but slightly wet sheet of ice.

The Alhamb: The finest motor vehicle ever made.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

The newer Sharan after 2017 (I think?) has the DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control).
I'm assuming the Alhambra will have an alternative to it, but no guarantee.

The alhambra we were considering is a 2016 se model. Would it have the setting to 'glide on ice' do you think? Or is it a standard setting thing? We didn't notice any dcc buttons on the centre console.

Realistically, the best thing you can do is ask.
Each model will differ slightly, especially depending on what was requested from new at the factory, etc.
If at a dealership, ask them to show you the settings and changeable systems.
Thats probably the only clear way you'd get an answer.

I'd not like to guarantee that a 2016 SE would have it or not.
Sorry not much more help, but hopefully you'll get what you're after.

David's talking about the older mk2 generation, the mk3 that your considering is a noticeably firmer ride which improves handling and fuel economy at the cost of comfort.

DCC is extremely rare to find specified on any UK car, realistically I wouldn't hold out hope of finding one. Having had a Tiguan and now the cayenne with DCC I also wouldn't be that fussed about getting it, VWs iteration is pretty poor with a noticeable but not earth shattering difference between the settings.
