Hi
I have a 2019 xcellence and I am having problems with the electrics. Taken it back to the dealership who have checked it on the diagnostic machine and no faults have shown up.

The intermittent faults are:-
-rear sliding door only opening half way
-electric seat only moving part way back (switch off and back on) seat has full movements
-when parked and locked up all four windows have come down approx 3",
-on 1 occasion overnight the tailgate opened up and on occasions the tailgate only half opens
-doors closing and opening

Has anyone else experienced any or all of these issues?

Thanks
DerekC

Welcome, most likely a defective body control module. How often are the issues occurring? Dealers won't be a in a hurry to replace anything unless the computer tells them to but with somethings you just have to keep on booking it in with them until its fixed, as annoying as that is, its a warranty item at the end of the day.

Thanks for the reply will keep badgering the dealer ,since we got the car we have found the windows down at least 3 times. the last time being last week ,picked the car up today to find that the seat would not go all the way back on the first attempt ,then after a while moved to the required position ,will start to keep a record ,the receptionist told me that they had removed the comfort feature ,whatever that is thanks Derek

Comfort feature is designed to move the seat to the last stored position for the key that unlocks it. It other words the key is 'personalised' to you.

Normally when the windows do that it's because the unlock buttons been held down on the remote accidentally so global unlocking goes active, given the number of other issues it's less likely

Did the car have a comfort feature to start with? And then they just removed it for some reason? As in, electronically removed some of the carââ,¬â,,¢s functionality? Iââ,¬â,,¢ve seen that sort of game played with Fords when it comes to heated front windows.

Iââ,¬â,,¢d be taking that lemon back to the dealer pronto.

Can you get a refund and buy a MK2 Alhamb instead?

Itââ,¬â,,¢s stuff like this which is a total turn-off when it comes to buying a new car.

I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

No disrespect but swapping a 2019 galaxy for a mark 2 Alhambra would be quite a step back. I donââ,¬â,,¢t think I would call it a lemon either it just sounds like one common fault causing all the symptoms to me. I would suspect BCM as that has an impact on all the systems that are having issues.

If it was me I would be doing as Mirez said and hounding the dealer, suggest they get SEAT UK involved if they cannot find a fault as they are more likely to investigate future and get to the bottom of it.

How long have you had the car and did you purchase from a main dealer?

I think Derek has a MK3 Alhambra

It just worries me that such a new car could have these sorts of faults. And u know how dealers can be, once theyââ,¬â,,¢ve got ur money ur oftentimes on ur own basically. People with brand new cars shouldnââ,¬â,,¢t have to worry about the boot opening in the middle of the night and the doors and windows only opening halfway and stuff like that. It should be easy motoring, sailing through winding open roads in his brand new car with the wind in his hair and enjoying the quality of the vehicle rather than scraping around the Internet trying to self diagnose why his boot is opening in the middle of the night. For that kind of experience I would save myself the Ã,£30K premium (or so) over a nice MK2 Alhamb and enjoy having less stress in my life. Arguing with dealership receptionists as they dispassionately tell u thereââ,¬â,,¢s nothing wrong with ur obviously faulty car and p.s. theyââ,¬â,,¢ve now disabled various features surely isnââ,¬â,,¢t the experience most people want.

That said, the Alhamb is the finest car money can buy

Thanks for all the comments the more i read the more i am learning ,after picking the car up yesterday the tail gate would not close stopping short by 6" after switching off and back on and pressing the boot button the tail gate eventually closed ,ringing the dealers back up again to try and sort things out and get the comfort feature back on,will the bcm show as faulty or will the technicians have to investigate to check if it is faulty or not ,and for clarification the car is Alhambra 2.0TDI 150 Xcellence

thanks again

It was faulty AFTER picking the car up? Oh man, so they didnââ,¬â,,¢t fix it?

It infuriates me when garages tell u thereââ,¬â,,¢s nothing wrong with ur car when u go there with an intermittent fault.

Iââ,¬â,,¢d be initiating a ââ,¬Å"not fit for purposeââ,¬Â type refund process at this point, who wants to spend their life going to and fro a garage that keeps sending u back home with a broken car.

Thereââ,¬â,,¢s a saying in the airline industry: if u want to know how well maintained the engines are, look for coffee stains on the trays they put on the back of the seats. The small details matter: if they donââ,¬â,,¢t get the small things right, how can u be sure they r getting the big things right.

Also, with regard to it being the BCM - why should u be the one doing the diagnosis. They sold u a car and it should work! Did u buy it from brand new, if so it should be perfect. If it was less than a year old and second hand when u got it, then perhaps the former owner was dumping a lemon. Either way, not good, not good at all.

Yes  car brand new in December 2019 ,the first day the rear o/s door would not seal closed had to be returned within 4 hrs ,with this covid not been anywhere really car has only done 2074 miles

Hi
All your comments are very valuable to me and my husband has rung the dealership up as yesterday I (the wife) took the car out with our 2 dogs after driving about 1 mile there was a red warning sign saying the tailgate was not closed - must admit this worried me as we had just been told nothing wrong with it, when I could pull in safely I went to the back of the car and say it was open approx 6 inches from the bottom, so took 3 photos at different angles and then tried to close the tailgate.
No it would not go down or up got into the the car switched off then back on still no joy tried the key fob NO  it wasn't having any of it so tried the button on the tailgate moved up about an inch.

Switched everything off waited a couple of minutes then tried again yes it closed this time, if I had been on the motorway I would not have been able to stop and sort it out which I thought it wasn't going to play ball at all.

We have had this type of problem since day one and it is the first time in 50+ yrs that a car has had to go back on the first day. ever.

All in all it is a lovely motor just want SEAT to sort it if the dealership can't then we will be talking to SEAT UK or WHAT CAR.

thank you again for all the info
Angelina

Apologies I had wires crossed thinking it was a 19 plate galaxy.

In that case get seat uk involved in my experience I have found VAG to be fairly good. My uncle had brand new A6 and had issues Audi replaced the car after he complained, think car was about 6 months old by then.

Yes, I really hope they get this fixed for u soon, u sound like really calm patient people and it is normally a joy, an absolute joy to own an Alhamb so I hope u get the full Alhamb experience soon. Hopefully it is just some electronic dooh-dah they can swap over and then give u many years of happy Alhamb motoring to come

I would defo tell Seats about the boot opening while u were driving btw, that definitely shouldnââ,¬â,,¢t happen. Big powerful companies like Seats take safety very seriously (Iââ,¬â,,¢m told itââ,¬â,,¢s their no. 1 priority over everything else) and the last thing anyone would want is poor doggy falling out the boot on the motorway or ur shopping being scattered all over the road. I think if u explain to them that the boot opened while u were driving they will be horrified and will surely pull out all the stops to help u. They are one of the biggest companies in the world and everything they do is designed to delight the consumer, technical problems can be tricky to fix sometimes but they are experts and will surely help u as it sounds like the problems are becoming a bit more significant by the sounds of it. I hope and am sure they will fix this for u soon, hang in there and we r all sending u positive vibes

Just to keep things up to date ,after telling Seat to re activate the comfort features tried the global opening windows to find been deactivated ( no wonder been no problem with the windows ) and they couldn't find any issues , all being well all features back working time will tell

Fingers crossed... it sounds like a really lovely car (Alhamb is the best u can get) so hopefully all sorted by the sounds of it and many many years of happy  motoring ahead of u? I would love to have a fancy new Alhamb like yours hehe
