My infotainment set up appears faulty Part number 7N5035680A. It does its own thing with random button pressing, random phone dialling and jumping radio stations? I cant even program the sat nav as very few letter buttons work on the touch screen.
Is this a known fault and cant it be repaired or will I need a new unit from Seat?

Dear ginetta man, is it possible that there is a bit of the screen which is stuck down and emulating a button press. Could you give the screen a good rub down and press it around a bit to see if that makes any difference. Also please does it have a calibration setting which you could try. Thank you
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

The screen in the works transit does some random stuff like that now and again especially when using car play, a 10 minute battery disconnect seems to resolve it. Might be worth giving that a try before looking for new unit as they wonââ,¬â,,¢t come cheap plus would need coding to the car.

I may try warranty wise but need to know who can fix them really as its clearly faulty and VW should have a fix by now for a 2016 unit.

You could try messaging ECU testing or bba reman see if itââ,¬â,,¢s something they can test and repair. If it is they usually repair your unit rather than replacing with a recon so no coding needed.

I've sent it away to to Stockton on Tees for a new screen repair. Fingers crossed he can fix it. Screen failure is common apparently. Now I need to find out how the get the USB unit out of the arm rest cubby. I cant get underneath to push it out which is what it needs really. Apparently some usb units wont work with apple phones (purple at back) green ones ok.

The guy fitted a new screen and unlocked the full link set up and it working well now. Strangely the sat Nav occasionally beeps without me touching buttons but everything else is now behaving. I've even added all the radio logos and cd cover logos with albums on an sd card. Thankful to the dealer for paying the Ã,£350 invoice.

Not bad at all

I've noticed the problem is back it hot weather. It's down to heat in the car as the new screen is still playing up if the car has been in the sun and the dash and unit heated up? The heat must knacker the screen crystals maybe? I now have a screen reflecting cover I leave in the car which I hope will help. I've read reports of them acting up in cold weather too so clearly not a good design. The sun also can shine on to the screen due to the high position of it in the dash.

Could you just replace it with a kenwood dab unit or similar? Thatââ,¬â,,¢s what I did on my Alhamb and the sound quality is excellent. Then I use Google maps on my phone which is always better than those one which are built into cars because they get out of date really fast and in any event the Google one lets me search in all sorts of ways. Or does this particular one do more than that, controlling air conditioning and things like that maybe.

Probabbly not, most newer vehicles have more than just the radio built into the unit, so a combination of the other functions, and that they usually are not a standard din type fitting either makes it difficult to get a usable end result. Given it seems to intergrate with the sat nav suggests its somewhat more complex than the stereo in the mk2 would be.
