Remember that clutch?

So last night, while I was working. The clutch pedal started to behave a bit odd, it felt like it was sticking. Eventually it stayed down.
Anyway, after that I had to get it home.
To pull away I had to have the engine off, put it in gear then start the engine, and away we go. It drives as youââ,¬â,,¢d expect, I then had to change gears (through 1-6) by allowing the revs to drop while holding light pressure on the gear stick, then it would slot into gear easily.
The only previous symptom I had was juddering when pulling away and a smell of burning cabbage. It never appeared to slip at all, even at hard acceleration or up hill.
Iââ,¬â,,¢m thinking itââ,¬â,,¢s possibly the master cylinder.
Any other ideas please?

Sounds like it's lost fluid and now got air in the system, look around the bottom of the gearbox bell housing for leaking fluid and inside the car around master cylinder/clutch pedal for leaking fluid the burning smell/juddering can well be clutch and possible DMF related.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Only place I can see fresh fluid is under the gearbox, so must be the slave cylinder.
Fluid reservoir totally empty, brakes work fine though. Weirdly.

If res is totally empty you must have other leaks as the clutch take off is purposely only part way down to prevent complete fluid loss if clutch hydraulics fail.
