DIY JOBS ON SHARAN/ALHAMBRA WITH BRT ENGINE

Hello out there! Just thought I would give this a go and see whether anybody can help. After consulting with SEAT customer services, I am now working on a 60K mile interval for a cambelt change, where previously it was every four years. In theory, I have about 20K miles in hand, but I am going to try and change the belt before the end of this year. Can any kind person advise - is a belt change on the BRT engine a DIY job or are special tools required? The last belt change I did was on our lovely Peugeot 405 about thirty years ago! I have a full set of hand tools including torque wrenches etc. Any thoughts?

I am also considering changing the bottom/big end bearings, to protect the crankshaft. The engine is at 152K miles, using no oil, and it seems sensible to pay some attention to that end of the business which is obviously under some stress. Has anybody tackled this job and can offer advice on how to go about it?
