So I got another car and came back to this because of its size.
MOT due in August so doing the little bigger up!
New drop links, ball joints, tie rods, wishbones, etc., but something that hasn't stopped appearing/rearing its ugly head is this:

01276 - ABS Hydraulic Pump (V64)

012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit

I've tried the usual fuses and also the grounding strips I'm aware of, other than replacing the pump, any ideas?

It's an intermittent issue that comes and goes as it pleases.

So to solve this, I took an identical part numbered pump and replaced it, and it worked brilliantly.
Took apart the old one and all the carbon bushes had worn off & a tiny pin/needle sized scrape on the inside.

All sorted for another year! 2 sets of drop links I've went through this year though! 🤦

Hi KINGYMAK, I'm interested to know how much of a job changing out the ABS pump was for you. I'm a competent home mechanic but as yet this is a task I've yet to have experience of, reading up on doing this has made me aware that the replacement pump has to be pre bled by specialist equipment. If a second unit is sourced would this need to be bled prior to fitting or can this be done with vagcom software? I also see that there are a few companies that can recondition my unit, if I choose that route then on fitting do I then just bleed the brakes in the normal way?
Thanks
Simon

You still needs VCDS to do a basic settings and output test on it at the end.
My steering angle sensor also needed resetting at the same time, also done with VCDS.

It's a pain in the arse location really.
Behind battery/coolant tank.

Also, I didn't pre bleed.

Bled it with VCDS output settings to flush through.
Worked fine.

I have vcds-lite and have used it a fare bit so reckon I can go through the bleed sequence, strange that your steering angle had to be reset but I guess it's all linked into the stability control. You are certainly right in it being awkward to get to, I had to replace the starter motor on mine last month which was in a completely different location to where the workshop manual stated, it was directly on top of the gearbox so I've had the battery and it's tray along with the assorted bits of plastic out. I'll try getting hold of a used pump before spending out on a recon one as most companies repair your pump on a return basis so the car is laid up whilst the work is done, I've yet to get the part number but looking at what's available on ebay they seem plentiful and not expensive. Thanks for the advice, having all the experience on this site is invaluable and has helped me on many occasion.
