Parking sensors long tone

My next project is to fix my parking sensors which have recently started making a long continuous beep whenever I put the car in reverse. Iââ,¬â,,¢ve cleaned them but have to keep turning them off because they just make that long tone. I wonder what it could be. Maybe some wiring. I have the vcds computer cable coming soon so maybe that will help. Any ideas or things to check in the first instance? Thank you

The vcds cable will tell you which sensor is faulty (often the cause). Look on fleabay for replacement,  easy fix, although I had to use superglue to hold it in.

While waiting for the lead have a listen to the sensors as working ones give out a clicking noise,also check the plugs for corrosion.

Not entirely sure if free copy of vcds gives much info on parking sensors,think you might need the registered copy?

Free version will give you the fault codes and distances detected on each sensor as I've done that recently to solve the random detections (which turned out to be the towbar socket, mounting it slightly differently and bending it back out of the way has solved that issue now)

Long tone sounds like its detecting an error to me. Do you have front and rear or just rear sensors? I've got the dual setup and both come on when you go in reverse. Not sure if a failure on the front will knock out the rear ones (I know it does on my Espace which doesn't currently have working sensors on the back, depsite swapping sensors and the loom around).

As Tezerez says, the sockets the sensors fit into are likely to come off, as they are only melted together originally. I'm not sure superglue is the best option for reattachment, gorilla glue doesn't work I can tell you that!

My old galaxy had front and rear and if a sensor went down it would switch the whole system off.
Sikaflex will hold the housing on so long as the area being bonded is cleaned first

Reading his other posts, he has an error for the outer righthand rear sensor so that suggests the location of the fault!

As Brian mentions, I think Iââ,¬â,,¢ve located the faulty sensor so have ordered a replacement one from eBays and hopefully it wonââ,¬â,,¢t be too tricky to replace it (famous last wordsââ,¬Â¦.)!
