Bouncy window

Hello everyone! I hope you are enjoying the nice weather!

My driver side window ââ,¬Ëœbouncesââ,¬â,,¢ a little when I wind it down (electric window). Instead of sliding down smoothly, it sort of jumps an inch really quickly at first then another half inch then starts sliding down smoothly as it should. It goes up just fine, very nice and smooth. I put silicon lubricant along the edge of the glass in case that helped but it didnââ,¬â,,¢t make any difference. Any ideas or suggestions please? Thank you

Pull the door card off the inside of the door, and watch the mechanism as it goes up and down, it may be that part of it is either loose or broken and allowing it to move in a way it shouldn't do.

Thank you Brian, I will give that a go. Is it tricky to remove the door card? Also is there good visibility of the mechanism once said card is removed please? Thank you

Every Galaxy (mk1 & 2) I've ever had or been in has had jumpy windows on the down path. Seems to just be a design...

Phew, I thought it perhaps might be a fault but if itââ,¬â,,¢s quite normal then might not worry about it too much. Was a bit worried about window glass falling out or something like that. Doesnââ,¬â,,¢t seem too bad but doesnââ,¬â,,¢t quite seem right either. But possibly just ââ,¬Å"one of those thingsââ,¬Â (but of character in the Alhamb and Galaxy range) he he

Personally I wouldn't worry about it jumping slightly - unless you had crunching/Grinding or cracking noises to go with it in which case yes have a look as something would clearly be wrong (stuff caught in the mechanism or the mechanism itself having issues).

I have this in my passenger rear window, i assume it could be the door wiring slightly shorting as it goes up and down, my drivers window is a pain as it gets stuck at certain intervals and lift and lowers slowly, still have to look at that one, check wiring just to be sure

I've found on the Land rover I've got that the top bit of the mechanism (this bit does the clamping of the glass in that car) had gone rusty and weakened - meaning that the rear NS window glass came out of the mechanism (still got to fix that one). Was swapping a door lock on the front drivers door and discovered the one there was even worse - rusty as anything and had actually broken off on one end. That one still worked, but wasn't particually smooth going up and down and was a bit noisy as well.

Replaced that one bit, and its working much better now. So might be worth checking the mechanism if you think theres a problem going on there.

I've had something similar on both my front windows at different times.It turned out to be the window switch,I found if I pressed it down hard the window operated normally.I cured the problem simply by giving the switch a good couple of squirts of WD40 and working the switch for a couple of mins,whilst the ignition was off.Both now work a treat and that was 6 months ago,worth a try.

Will give the switch thing a go although it seems more mechanical than electrical... I suspect from the comments here that it was just a design fault and isnââ,¬â,,¢t anything to worry about
