Ford Galaxy Mk2 water in drivers footwell

Hi

After a frustrating few months I have identified where the water is coming in to the car. However, I don't know what is causing this and how I go about fixing it.

It may not be obvious from the photo but it is showing a metal pipe behind the foot brake. At the 'T' junction of the pipe, water is coming in, in the photo it looks as though it is further down but thats where its just gathering.

I have read a few posts and the advise posted by Mirez but it doesn't seem to solve the issue.

What is this pipe, whats behind it and what can I do to fix it please.

canââ,¬â,,¢t think what that pipe would be,can you see it from under the car where it enters? Air con pipe maybe??
Might be worth a check of the drains under scuttle trim in case they are blocked allowing it to fill up so water finding another area to escape from.

It would help to identify what it is thats leaking - Water can be coolant, screenwash, rainwater. Which one would help to confirm diagnosis. If you have coolant and screenwash then using a piece of kitchen roll will allow you to soak some up and check what colour it is. If it doesn't smell or look like coolant or screenwash then its likely its rainwater, or condensate from the AC system. It looks like rainwater to me.

I never found why it caused it, but having the scuttle panel out allowed rainwater into the cabin. Equally I would suspect that having the scuttle rubber seal not installed correctly may cause the same problem. As would the already mentioned scuttle drains being blocked up (common issue due to the design allowing debris to catch on the drain and block it, suggest if you have the scuttle out then flushing both sides through with the hose is a good idea at the same time.

Just to clarify, it is rain water that is coming in. I took the photos last night as it was raining. Otherwise it remains dry.

How do I go about removing the scuttle panel and checking the rubber seal?

Hi Sag and

Click on Ford KB or Search at the top of page the knowledge base holds the most common info that you will need to know.

The problem you are having may simply be clearing all the dead leaves and debris that finds its way into the scuttle tray, with this removed you can hoover out all the muck.
you also need to remove the lower rear end of both wheel arch liners as this gets blocked also.

There have been a few members that have had this problem but it's been due sealing issues between panels but Iv'e not had that problem myself.

While the scuttle tray is out it is worth fitting a new cabin filter as this can get overlooked because of the location and access.

Just out of curiosity do you know what that black pipe is where the water is coming in from. I appreciate that it may be the outlet for the water and not the cause.

That looks like a strengthening brace for the brake servo, doesn't actually have anything in it, I would hazard a guess it's coming through from higher up and running down.
Check out the places that have been mentioned already and go from there.

It's not hard work but can cause problems if not cleaned out at least every couple of years or more often if you park near a lot of trees.
