Hey guys;
Anyone had the following VCDS error?

1 Fault Found:
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left  (G47)
            008 - Implausible Signal - Intermittent

Is it generally the sensor or wiring elsewhere?
Just wondering in case something's been dislodged whilst having a Clutch kit & DMF, only came about when it was changed.

I'm assuming both sensors are the same on each side so I could just swap to check for errors, but it's a 'bit wet' here at the minute.

Cheers!

I would be checking the wiring and sensor visually first as to do DMF they would have been pulling about at the suspension leg etc. Could well be a loose plug or damage to wiring or sensor

As Johnny said the sensor wire has probably been stretched have done the same thing myself your just about to lower the leg and hub down then realize the lead is still connected.
You cannot normally swap the sensors over for two reasons, 1st the sensor usually rusts into the hub and you end up destroying it to remove it, 2nd the n/s sensor lead incorporates the pad wear lead which is absent from the o/s.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

The sensor has rusted into the hub at the little Allen key section; had a quick check this evening.
Is it a simple drilling it out or is it a little bit more delicate or does it come apart pretty well before I make a start on Wednesday?

I would give it a good soaking with wd40 prior to attempting removal to penetrate and hopefully free it off. Is the Allen head damaged so you cannot get Allen key in to grip it? If so try and tap a torx socket in.

Yeah, the Allen socket was just knackered, but the next size is too big.

I'll try tapping in a torx when I get the chance.
Do the sensors come with new Allen bolts?

Not sure if new cap screw comes with sensor but it shouldn't be difficult to get hold of one at a guess it will be M6 and about 20mm long? Was it 5mm Allen key?

Seeing as you have just had your clutch and DMF done, then have a look at the ASB ring which is on the driveshaft, see if there are any scuff marks on it from the sensor.
There should be a small gap between the ring and sensor but if they touch then that will give you an ABS fault, I had the same problem on mine, all I did was take the sensor out and place a small washer between the hub and sensor and the fault disappeared. I know your having problems with the bolt head I'd give the torx socket a try worked for me in the past.

Hey guys;

Just a quick follow up on this!

I'd been putting a bit penetrant spray on the bolt every few days and giving it a brush and knock to free it up a little;
Got a 4mm Allen and knocked it in a little and the little blighter came straight out!

Then ragging the sensor apart and chipping bits of it off to get it out in 'one piece'.
It's done & replaced!

Thankfully I just cleaned the sensor hole and it slotted straight back in!

Even connected up the pad wear sensor wiring again!

Hello
Easy way to check sensor/magnetic ring. Use multimeter on the two pins on the ABS sensor:
ABS sensor should give you stabile resistanse around 1.8K ohm, when ok.
When spinning the wheel you should be able to get 2-10 AC millamps if the magnetic ring is ok.
