Turbo to intercooler return pipe

Can anyone help again. My driveshaft has rubbed a whole through the rubber pipe that comes from the bottom of the turbo to the metal pipe that runs back to the intercooler. I have tried retaping the hole with ductape and cable tieing the pipe out the way but no matter where I place it, it always rubs back through the pipe. On the old engine it had a metal clamp which attached to the side of the sump and held the metal pipe in place, but on this engine it doesn't have the 3 holes in the side of the sump to attach it to. So I'm running the pipe without the clamp. Also would anyone have the part no for this rubber pipe. Thanks. Andy.  Ps the pipe is just a standard 90 degree bend but 1 end is smaller than the other if that helps.

Hi Andy VW no. is 7M 3145838B

I guess your new engine is not from a galaxy, do you still have the old lump should be fairly easy to swop over the sump.

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

Yes still have the old engine Chris, but never swapped the sump pans over before is it difficult to do. I imagine its new gaskets etc

There is no gasket  sealer is used. Ford part no YM2J-19G204-AA
Be sure to clean off old sealer and washout sump.
Run a continuous bead of sealer on the sump going around the inner edge of the bolt holes.

Thank you silverbeast some very useful information there. I'm tackling this tomorrow so wish me luck.

Good luck!

Just take it slow and steady and make sure it is thoroughly degreased before reassembly.

Forgot to say you need to leave it plenty of time to cure (I would suggest at least 24hours) I think I left it 2 days, maybe 3 as I had the luxury of being able to get a lift to/from work just to be sure.

Don't refill with oil till then and obviously check for leaks before and after you start it.

Hi Andy
With the work you have done already this should be pretty easy as the sump is very accessible on this model.
Silverbeast has recently done this job so his insructions and pictures are very helpful. :)
