Hi all,
My intermediate driveshaft is ready to fail, I've read Mirez post about the polish drives and I've had a look and they look the part. My galaxy is 2001 with the aluminium bearing carrier. I can source a replacement online but I cannot source this "Modification Kit/Bracket! Does anyone know a way out or is the polish type "A" shaft the right one? Thanks.

Yeah the polish one comes with the bracket, you simply specify if you have the steel plate or the aluminium carrier. There are only two versions fitted to the galaxy so just visually ID it and you're done :)

As far as I can see on Motomax website, type "A" shaft fits into the aluminium carrier, so it's just a matter of clicking that? Also, is there any differences in the length of the driveshafts that you know of?

Yup, I would say version A is what you need :)

There are differences in length but only if you have the Automatic or 4x4 (4Motion) versions - AFAIK the two there are the same.

Cheers, it's great to get the help from you, if I had to go to Ford it costs a fortune, as you know I'm sure! I'll get right on it and keep you posted. Thanks again, much appreciated.

No worries, it's what the site it for!! (and yes, Ford are ridiculously priced!)

I ordered the drive on Sunday night, I received it at lunch time on Friday. it seems a good quality driveshaft and comes with grease, a brass ring and new stubshaft bolt. I had it fitted in under 3 hours just lying under the car in a shed with very basic tools. In a decent workshop you could halve that time. I'd certainly deal with them again. Also, huge difference with the car.

Well it's cheap.. possibly a little too cheap.

Two things strike me tbh, 1) They show the stub with the text "Modified Forged Steel" but that's not really the bit that fails! Which leads me to 2) The actual joint doesn't look to have been modified at all and, unlike the polish one, it's still not weather sealed so the problem can reoccur. If you have plans to keep the car for any length of time I probably wouldn't bother myself as the design of the motomax shaft is, imho, far superior.

I think I agree with Mirez, those other shafts were Ã,£150 not long ago from the same place.
