Tyre recommendations? (17 inch)

I've been trying to use the forum search tool to dig up answers but as yet haven't had any success with getting it to return results. Is it working?

Anyway - I was looking for recommendations for decent quality tyres that are known to work well on the Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra. My Alhambra has 17" rims shod with 225/45 94XL, which does at least look as though it's the correct size and rating, but they are ditchfinders and I'd rather not put my life in their hands. Any remarks as to specific tyres that should be avoided are also more than welcome 

I'd prefer something that has low road noise and gives a comfortable ride but also gives reasonable turn-in and steering feedback. Is it me, or do these MPV's have very low-geared steering? Perhaps it's those tyres...
