Galaxy mk3 heated windscreen connections

Looking for advice on heated windscreen wiring. One side of the windscreen is not working, fuses fine,relay fine but changed anyway. I've located the earth to roof behind the inter light ,looks fine and found the connection in the mirror housing, 3 wires connected to some sort of module stuck on the windscreen itself. I've done a continuity check on each side of windscreen using the 3 wires, one half is fine, other shows nothing. I have read somewhere that there are ribbon like connections at the base of windscreen somewhere that could cause problems, anybody know where these may be?

Theres usually a lead to either side of the screen hidden in the scuttle area on most vehicles. The ones I've seen (not a mk3 galaxy though) hang off either lower corner of the screen. If its snapped off from the windscreen you might get lucky enough that you can get it attached back to the elements if it hasn't broken off too close to the glass.

I bet I could guess which side of the windscreen isn't heating. By the rule of "Sod's Law", it will be the driver's side.

As Brian says, sometimes you can just push the connections back on. I once had a mechanic spray WD40 all over it thinking that would somehow fix it. You may be able to get to it by hand without removing anything and then feel around and push/wiggle the connections until hopefully something makes contact

That's pointed me in the right direction, time for a rummage around the scuttle panel, folks. Worse case scenario and the screen itself is duff, has anybody had to replace a heated windscreen, i would be covered through insurance but just curious about the other things involved, window wiper rain sensor for example, do the likes of Autoglass fit a like for like screen?

Sounds very much like the one half of screen has poor/damaged connector to me,worth a look but I suspect it will be a new screen job to resolve.
Not had screen changed on a galaxy but our work transit with auto lights,wipers and heated screen was replaced recently. Screen same spec as original one just not labelled ford. Came with the brackets for sensors etc so no issue after it was replaced.

I've had a new screen fitted by Autoglass to a focus (actually got to have another new screen on that car now as a stone hit it last week on the m4 and has cracked it again  ). On that they replaced like for like (screen doesn't have quite as much heated, the sides are slightly less covered but it works all the same) and refitted mirror to screen, and replaced half of the scuttle panel. Best bet is to give them a ring and speak to them if it comes to that, the local depot that did mine was easy enough to speak to about it.

Am on my fourth new screen on my Mondeo.  All fitted like for like - a bit higher excess than a non-heated one but still less than Ã,£100 and all the work done for me.  The original screen had no flaws.  All of the replacements have had minor issues with some heater wires not working.

The only downside to Autoglass these days is that they do not seem to have premises.  They have to come to you.

Is auto glass still the market leader or is there a better one now please

A lot of the time the only option if your claiming through your insurance, is to go with their choice of windscreen replacement company. There are a few smaller firms about as well. But when I asked about costs, to do it without going through insurance is typically Ã,£350-500 depending on the vehicle in question.
