Hi, I have a 2009 Ford Galaxy... I have a question I cannot see in the archives....

1:  I have T-Track - is it possible to get or retrofit the bars that run along the side of the cars, like the 2012++ ones.

and 2:  Anyone know how I can use my T-Track and put on a long cage like the Van Hippo or similar ? (Is it possible) ?  And perhaps a video on how to do it.

Basically - I got  3 metre long objects I want to have on top of my car (4-5 metre if possible) ?

No, i cant afford a new car at mo .  so trying to do what i can with what I've got.

Thanks in Advance.

Not really sure but the only thing I can suggest is just trying to screw it all on and maybe being a bit creative to get it all to fit.

However, I note your point regarding the purchase of a new car. Why anyone would ever want to downgrade from a Ford Galaxy is beyond me - they are the best cars money can buy! Practical, reliable and economical - not to mention spacious and comfy. The Galaxy has it all.
I drive a Seat Alhambra 1.9Tdi which has 115bhp and an automatic gearbox.

I am happy to help you with all your questions. I am not a qualified mechanic but seem to be better at fixing my car than even the most experienced garages.

I have lots of friends here and very much enjoy talking with you all. Always remember, a motor car is a serious tool and should be treated with respect. Put your safety first, always.

I donââ,¬â,,¢t see why you canââ,¬â,,¢t retrofit the rails on to your car, I would hazard a guess and say the body is the same. If you can get the rails from a breakers then I would think itââ,¬â,,¢s just a case of measuring and drilling to fit them. Would need roof lining down to gain access for securing. Whether the body on underside of roof has the strengthening plates there I donââ,¬â,,¢t know you may have to make some. If you do go down this route make sure you have the rubber seals on the rails and also that you protect any drilled holes from rust.

te problem is i not sure that th new 2010 rails will fit a t track system on the 2008-2009 models .  i have thought of possibly building a long rack using an available rack, but thinking can i  get perhaps either 2 rails running along, or perhaps i should try to use each t track point  (I think there are more than 2 or 3?) and get them all supporting a rack.  the rack has to be long almost like a van.  any issues do people think ?  will i get pulled over as its wrong size fr car or  is there a certain overhang over the bonnet that i shouldnt go beyond ? i was thinking of starting from the back, leaving enough clearnace for the back door, and as far forward but  keeping it not so far forward of the glass to obestruct view of high signs on bridges .  ? are there rules on this ?

If its within the confines of the vehicle you should be fine. I've had a set of 3.6m ladders on a pair of roof bars on the earlier Galaxy without issues. You might want to look into the weight limits for the one you have though.
