hi , when i try to access the cd changer from the cockpit it just displays the word SERVICE ?
Any idea's please ?

Don't know if its the same as the ford unit, but if so does the caddy manage to eject if you try to remove it? if not theres a connector at each end, might be worth checking its connected properly at both ends if there doesn't appear to be any life out of it.

the cd changer  in the back  is a Panasonic . when you push eject it just wurrs and don't pop up like it should

That would suggest where your problem is - it sounds to me like either the caddy is broken in some way, or if your lucky that a cd has got jammed in there. Don't know if theres a manual eject mechanism on it, but suspect thats what you need to look at to try and find out why its got stuck.

Are there any cds loaded into it? Might be easier to try and source a replacement off eBay if you can find one, shouldn't be too hard to do so as they don't usually work with aftermarket head units, which a lot of people will have due to either wanting features the original unit doesn't have (bluetooth, usb playback, Aux in, etc) or its been drowned by the poorly located cup holders.
