Hi guys, haven't been on for a while cos the old mk2 was behaving it self but sadly has decided to suffer a noisy release bearing and also needs new brakes again so not worth the money on the old girl. Just bought a lovely condition mk3 07 plate zetec with leather and other extras. No mech defects at all but have a rather scratched up silver dual zone climate. control unit .. it looks awful.. my question is does any of the black variants work from the later cars? I've tried 2 although they are the same in size button config etc plug them in and Nothing.  I've got a brill condition silver one to go in that works but really wanted to change it to black cos I'm about to vinyl wrap all the trims black as well. The part number on the silver one is 7S7T18C612AB  many thanks adam

IIRC, some of these units need to be software configured to the vehicle.  Something to do with the actual specifics of the climate control on each vehicle.

Thanks for the reply. I've picked one up from a 10 plate Mondeo mk4 and it's the same number on the back and works a treat. Just fancied it all black
Looks like I'm sticking with silver lol.
