Black smoke n loss of power

Hi, I noticed tonight tht my 04 1.9td galaxy isn't accelerating as it use too. I've also got a bit of black smoke, I've read bout a boost pipe splitting, which pipe is it and how hard is it to change??

Boost pipes run from turbo at rear of engine down next to sump under the drive pulley and to intercooler behind bumper,it then comes out and up to inlet manifold on right hand side of engine. Have a check for oily residue,do you get any whoosh noise on acceleration?

Also worth a check with vcds to see what maf is doing as that could be causing it aswell.

Yes I did notice a slight whooshing sound tonight, planning on checking the pipe u mentioned on Sunday. Will remove it fully so I can completely check it over..
will report back once I've investigated it.
Btw I got it scanned by a friend tonight n no fault codes r stored.

The o rings on pipe connections are another source of leak,you can get new ones but I fixed mine with a few wraps of ptfe under them. Lube the seal when refitting as they will be a nice tight fit.

Well I done wot u suggested johnnyroper with ptfe tape. unable to find any split hoses on both sides of the intercooler. Did notice wot looks like a lot of oil down the rear of the engine (not sure if related or not).
Next in line is to replace the fuel filter (dash keeps reminding me lol) so hopefully tht will solve it. Any ideas on wot else it cld be???
Oh btw I found the egr valve (back of engine above turbo) when viewed from underneath, so wld a blank at either end b a good idea???

Did you check the 90 degree hose off turbo round to the metal pipe on sump?
As for the EGR itââ,¬â,,¢s best to clean it before blanking it off however I wouldnââ,¬â,,¢t blank it,on the PD you can just remove vac pipe off top and plug it to stop EGR from operating.

Have you still got the whooshing noise under acceleration?

Just taken it for another drive, with bro in law he reckons it's more of a hissing noise. Still lacks power. So does tht sound like air leak?? The small amount of Black smoke seems to have disappeared thou.

Hissing/whooshing noise does sound like boost leak. A small leak starts like hissing and as gets worse turns more in to a whoosh.

I'm guessing tht wld also cause my loss of power then??. Any ideas on where else to start looking???

Well I relented n took it to a local garage (whom I trust) found out the cat had broken up n blocked up the middle n back boxes, so the car was basically choking itself. After parting with Ã,£219 it now pulls like a train in fact my wife said it goes like [emoji90] off a shovel [emoji23] to the point where she said "I'll race u off the line in my 1.8 focus!!!!" Mmmmm I think not lol
