Have owned my galaxy tdi for about 18 months, always gets up to a decent speed and cruises nicely but felt sluggish getting there, until I sent her in for a Cambelt change and my mechanic found also the maf sensor was knackered, had this replaced and omg what a difference it goes like a rocket now.

Hi James problems with MAF sensor doesn't throw up a fault code only way to check with Vag com is to get some live data and see if results are within the correct range, or simply replace as you have done

That's the problem with failing MAF's because quite often they do so quietly and over a long period of time so you don't really notice the performance diminish - so much better when they are pulling properly though

I did mean to create a "how-to" check the MAF using Vagcom as its quite easy to do - must do that in a bit

Car was like this ever since I brought her so just assumed it was because its a heavy old diesel, what a nice surprise it was driving her home.

When I was first considering a Galaxy and before I knew about the old MAF problem we drove a 150 model which was mint - I dismissed it because it was gutless and I thought it must have an injector or similar fault, how I wish I'd have known because I reckon that was a MAF fault and she would have flown Bah!
