Hi my auto gearbox has started snatching gear going up when the engin is up to temperature (90c) dosent seam to do it when cold any ideas ?

I would look at fluid change initially as it could have degraded.
Also I know the solenoids can give problems but don't know if your issue could be related to solenoids?

Thanks ill have to give that a go

just did a vcds on the gearbox

00300 -  Transmission Fluid Temp. Sensor (G93)
        27-10 -  Implausible Signal - Intermittent
01166 - Shareware Version. To Decode all DTCs
        03-10 - Please Register/Activate ââ,¬â€œ Intermittent

it would be nice if their was an faq for all the vcds code in the shareware vcds  can anyone give me a point in the correct direction?

That code relates to the trans temp sensor which is housed within the auto box and needs the case splitting to repair properly.
However it is a weird one as it can be caused by incorrect readings from engine coolant temp sensor as the pair work in conjunction. Likewise the solenoids can cause this code to be thrown up.
I have seen the trans temp sensor replaced by chopping old wires and soldering new one in and relocating the sensor to different place, this can be done with just the pan off.

What I would do is get a registered copy of vcds so you can check measure. Blocks to see what temp readings you get, with a bad sensor you can get fluctuating readings and sudden jumps.

update

I cleared the error codes on sunday and drove to and from work for the next three days without problem then today I decided to kick in the turbo and hay presto I get the following codes

it would seam that pushing the car sets off the problem its also worth pointing out  that my alternator is brand new
Ive tested it and it is preforming to spec both under load and not

their has to be a link

The engine torque signal for trans comes from mass air flow sensor, that coupled with the alternator load signal would make me think some sort of wiring fault maybe a common ground or something?

Have a check of the plugs to MAF and the alternator make sure no damage etc,I would concentrate on the MAF first personally. Can you get measure blocks on your vcds? If so get one with MAF and see what readings it gives with full throttle acceleration make sure it is reading correct through the range compared to specified figure given in vcds.

had a quick look mas blocks seam to be a little off it giving actual readings of 450 and up that seams too high Ill plump for a new maf and take it from their I think

would be nice to see a wiring diagram as I cant see where the wires are for or where they go to find a possible common  area that may be broken

450 at idle is about same as mine it should rise to 800 odd when throttling up.

Whats the condition of the battery fuse box?

With VCDS lite (full version) need a code clearing or want to scan for faults in the north kent area, PM me. All for a pint of Strongbow.

The battery fuse box is in v good condition in fact it wouldnt surprise me if it was changed not long before i got the car last year

Where is the alternator signal coming from is it the main cabel or the little two pin plug and where dose it go to ? Ie ecu and implausible?  What could it be being told it dosent belive

Yes from that 2 pin plug, from there it goes direct into the instrument cluster.

Who changed your alternator and is your AC working? The compressor plug is the same fitment and reaches the alternator and I've seen them swapped around by mistake on more then 1 occasion.

So I was/ am going to change the gear box oil but I cant find a match on euro car parts for the G-052-990 spec oil

can any one point me to the correct one will the multi car ATF oil be ok ?

When I had my box overhauled six years ago they used Dexron 3, still going fine.

Well a quick update problem still not solved i put a brand new bosch maf on still had the same problem had the wireing checked by an auto electricians and all ok but he said the egr valve is faulty and it may be the course im very sceptical as why would it run ok for 15 mins then go into limp mode ... ? How do you un bolt the  egr ?

Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

The egr is fairly easy to take off, take top cover off, unclip boost hose. Undo the 2 6mm Allen bolts  holding egr pipe on. There are then 3 or 4 5mm Allen bolts to split valve off manifold.
Try giving it a clean out first as they gunk up and stick,if you have a vac tester see off it operates and holds vac failing that you can suck on a hose with your mouth(not ideal but it's a quick test)

If it's knackered I have a spare egr you can have for cost of postage.

Well one step forward two back i may have solved my limp mode problem ... but ill wait a little longer before i jump

But I've been un able to unbolt the egr as yet the front underside bolt 6mm (the one that blocks the last 5mm bolt)
Any one got any tips ?

But I've put a pipe on the top and sucked and i can fell no back pressure or the valve move so on balance i think its dead and would very much like to take johnny up on his offer
(Let me know if the offer is still good i tried a pm but it bounced said you box is full johnny)

In the mean time ill keep trying to get this thing off 3hrs and counting so far .....

Do you mean the 6mm that holds egr pipe on?
If so can be a bit tricky use a Allen key rather than socket and put long end in and get a spanner on short end for leverage.

Yes mate offer still good I will clear some messages out in a bit.

Apologies geduk but the EGR valve I have is knackered and does not hold a vacuum,it did 2 years ago though so no idea what's happened to it.

Hi, Johnnyroper,
I can't pm to you, because your inbox is full...

quick update on this it turned out to be the new alternator

I don't know why!

But it was not giving  a load signal back to the car and that was causing the error  proved by putting a new regulator pack into the old alternator and the problem went away

Go figure
