Hi all,

Had a fault code read in my local garage and have a 'cam sensor code is permanant'

Been quoted Ã,£400 + vat as they say cam belt has to come off.

Can the sensor be replaced on it's own?
Edit.... Can I get to the sensor and replace it without touching the belt?

Regards

Stuart.

Cobblers, I changed mine recently, no need to disturb the timing belt. A little fiddly but no major hassle, take a read here.

I would not be employing their services as they are either trying their luck or clearly have no idea what they are doing.

Yep, that's exactly the same part number as the new sensor I fitted, and a good deal cheaper than buying it from Ford!

Thanks Paul,

Just ordered it. Should be here for the weekend.

I renewed the sensor to cure intermittent starting issues, touchwood so far it seems to have sorted it!

Same problems I have. Luckily I brought a new battey couple of months ago and it has enough power to turn over
almost forever lol.

Check list:
10mm socket
rag catcher for dropped bolt ::)
coffee
bag of swear words
electrical tape for skinned knuckles.

all good to go this weekend  :)

Yep, you'll also need a 5mm (I think) hex key socket to unbolt the airbox from the wing and a pair of spring clip pliers or something similar to allow you to release the large hose clamp from the air feed hose going out of the airbox.

Just fitted it :)
Part arrived yesterday

Would have taken under an hour if I didn't have to find my socket set and
struggle to pick up the dropped grommet. ::)

Thanks for all the advice and a big thanks for the detailed photos Paul, without them I
would not have had a clue where to start.

Nice one.
Always good when people sort their own faults and keep money in own pocket and not a garages.

[GJ] No worries! Hopefully your fault is now sorted.

I know it's only been a couple of days but I already notice a difference.
It's now turning over and fire up straight away.

I'll update again in a couple of weeks.
