how do i take of nearside driveshaft of ford galaxy the inner cv boot has split can any one help thanks andrew oo and

sorry i forgot to day as well driveside lower ball joint allen key not woren cant get it off need help with that to thanks andrew

Is it a manual or automatic gearbox? If it's a manual transmission, it'll be the Ford VXT-75 unit, the inner CV joints should have splined stubs which fit & are retained in the gearbox differential by wire spring circlips.

I don't understand what you mean about the balljoint bolts, sorry.

Is he referring to the two bolts attaching the ball joint to the hub

If the cap screws are knackered so Allen key won't go in and hold then you could try beating a torx in and hope it grips or chop em off with angle grinder.

To remove the driveshaft, assuming it's the ball and cage type inner CV joint fitted to the VXT-75 Ford manual gearbox, you need to remove the 27mm hub bolt from the centre of the wheel hub (preferably with the vehicle jacked up a bit so the full vehicle weight isn't on the wheel bearing), take the wheel off, then remove the lower arm balljoint from the wheel knuckle (2x 8mm hex key bolts IIRC) to allow you to pull the strut out so you can tap the outer CV joint splined stub shaft out of the hub (you may also need to unbolt the anti-roll bar drop link from the strut to allow you to pull the strut out far enough), then the inner CV joint needs to be removed from the gearbox- as it's retained by a spring circlip in the differential this usually involves carefully placing a lever bar between the gearbox casing and the CV joint casing and giving it (the bar) a short sharp whack with a hammer. You may lose a little gearbox oil when the shaft comes out but if the vehicle is jacked up a bit on the side of the shaft you're taking out you may be ok.

If you are having shaft out its always worth putting new seal in gearbox as it may well leak after being disturbed.
