79mph in a 70mph limit...

Now the big question, I've got 0 points - shall I do the course? or just take the 3 points?

No, the fine is Ã,£60+3 points, the course is Ã,£80 without points.

I'll take the course just to avoid the points I think unless I can get out of it all together, it was 22days since the NIP was issued but it depends if I'm the registered keeper or not as its the Golf, will find out on Monday when I speak to fleet!

Something I've posted tonight on another forum re: NIP time limits:

QuoteFor the definitive answer LOOK HERE

As I understand it,

Private car registered to you, NIP to be sent within 14 days.
Company/leased vehicle/someone else's car, NIP to be sent to the registered keeper within 14 days, no time limit on subsequent NIP's.
NIP issued by an officer at the roadside, 6 months.
My other car is a 480 hp Volvo.

DO the course if you can. I actually enjoyed it when I did one a few years ago. Plus of course no points! I am of the opinion that this option should be more widely available as no one believes that these speed checks are actually in most sites other than for the purposes of raising revenue!.  I agree that poionts should be applied in situations of blatant and dangerous law breaking but the idea of a fine - however much it costs is better than point!

Really? I've got a pre-conception that I'm going to be lectured about children being mercilessly killed by my reckless actions. Money-wise its only Ã,£20 more then the fine but its a 4 hour course and weekdays only so I'll need to take a half day (or schedule an "offsite meeting" lol )

Just wanted to konw - What did you do in the end ? Take the points or the course?
On the Square

Did the course, although in hindsight I would have taken the points. To be fair it was delivered in a non condescending way however it wasn't tailored in anyway. Ie, because I was over on a dual carriageway it was assumed I drive over at all times. I would say 90% of the course was about town/city driving and knocking down pedestrians in them (again, something I had an issue with as it was always the motorists fault). It also wasn't solely about the issue of speeding, a lot was stuff like What shape is a stop sign? Stuff that assumed that because you were speeding you had a poor general knowledge on driving... 2 hours would have been easily sufficient but they'd packed it with all this extra crap to pad out the 4 hours, I guess to make it more of a punishment, but to be honest it just made it tiring and boring.

Yep that's how I remember it. But.... it's still better than 3 points - You may feel differently until the day when you get hit twice for speeding and all of a sudden you lose your licence!! - That's how my mind works!!!
