It looks like the new top mount has failed on my 2003 2.3 galaxy a few months ago I replaced all the front suspension new top mounts new struts new drop links new bottom ball joints now the nearside has developed  a clunk looking at it today all I can find is excessive movement in top mount question is what's the best one to buy as I don't want it to go again

Hard to say then if it's down to it being a cheap aftermarket part but if it's not lasted very long it may be worth getting a genuine or quality branded top mount and seeing if it fares any better. Looking at Euro car parts now for my reg it gives a choice of an 'aftermarket' - i.e, cheapo- top mount or a more expensive Corteco version. GSF are offering a Lemforder top mount which should be top quality, they make a lot of the O.E fitment balljoints etc.

Had strut off and checked mount the rubber bit is fine however the bearing part has failed!! Looking at it seems to be a very flimsy item looked at new one in local gsf store and that too is just as flimsy doesn't anybody one with a proper roller bearing
