spare wheel options Mk2

2003 mk2 ford gal has lost its spare wheel space (and since leaving unlocked one night - its lost the spare wheel as well).

If I want to carry a nasty thin spave saver instead of the full size wheel, does anyone know of a supplier or car of the same fitting?

Unable to find anything through the usual sources but even if this is not recommended for this car, if I can find one that fits then I'd consider it for limping home through 20mph limits.

Obviously - if I was on faster roads then I'd use the magic spray instead.

So - I'm not asking for reasons not to use one, just an idea of ones that might fit (even if not recommended),

Best bet would be to look at other 5 stud vw cars that use space savers,from memory I think the golf does. Possibly Audi cars with 5 stud also. Fairly sure the 5 stud vag cars have same hub diameter.

Any scrap yards your way you can take a look at to see if they have any?

Golf Mk6, EOS and Touran all use space savers.

Obviously you are aware of the reasons not to use one, one pothole will pop it and just to make you aware of the consequences. Ã,£1000 and 3 points.

I sort of understand it on a Mk3 where there is no option for a spare and maybe I'm missing something but why would you want a space saver banging around in the boot when you could just replace the winch and tyre? (And please don't say because it's cheaper)

I have a 16" Galaxy full size steel wheel going cheap if you're interested!

It might have lpg conversion instead of a spare wheel under the boot?
Out of curiosity why would it be Ã,£1000 fine and 3 points for using one?

Should also add if you get a space saver you need to make sure it is same rolling circumference as your wheels.

Thats why I didn't go off on one Could be a number of legitimate reasons but on face value I had to ask

Ã,£1000 and 3 points is the fine for ANY tyre that isn't roadworthy so technically if you had four bald tyres you could be on for 4K and 12 points  Since they are a much narrower tyre, it's not possible to get a space saver with a high enough load index for the weight of the Galaxy so the wheel is not roadworthy in the eyes of the law. I think its fairly unlikely you would be stopped by the police but should you be involved in any accident with one on you'd be looking at the fine, points and void insurance regardless of who was to blame.

hi..any audi vw seat mercedes 5x112 will fit the galaxy alhambra and sharan, try to avoid space saver as they will fit but not save as your car bit heavy..this is my opinion!! thnx

Oh right with you know I was aware about fine and points for bald tyres just didn't cotton in to why using space saver could be classed as not road worthy. But thinking about it the galaxy is heavy for one of them.

Johnny & Mirez & Alial- Thanks for the suggestions. I'll work out which is the heavyest car on that list (diesel Audi perhaps?) and see what they use.

Insanity - thanks for the offer but if I go for a standard, I'll try the breakers for one with a tyre initially.

Mirez - thanks for the warnings. I'd need to be careful. Normally I'd be happy to use foam but the last tyre I lost was to some rubbish on the road that ripped out the side wall.

Johnny - yes circumfrence is king in this case. I've seen drivers complain of ABS light after fitting two new tyres - you've guessed it, the new ones were one axle worth and looked far 'cooler' than the tyres he replaced.

Johnny - you nailed it (lpg) I say it quietly as too many arm chair experts will jump up to save me from my ignorant, dangerous, explosive, expensive, performance impacting and engine damaging choice!
