The inside lights situated on the back wheel arches are staying on when all other lights are off,is there any way of getting them off as I can't find a switch for them? Thanks

I believe these are the lights that come on when you open the tailgate. It sounds like the switch has either failed or detached itself so that the system thinks the hatch is permanently open.  I believe that the switch is attached to the tailgate lock mechanism inside the tailgate.  You need to remove the tailgate trim panel to access it.

Never done this but if you can can disconnect the plug going to the switch first I believe the lights should go out (I don't think there is a courtesy delay on this).  If it does you it is more than likely the switch.

If they don't it could be frayed wires in the hatch gaitor (rubber hose that at the top that contains the wires between the body and hatch).  If some of these have frayed  then they may be shorting together and bypassing the switch.

As Silverbeast said, I had the opposite problem, they wouldn't come on, down to broken wiring, you either have a faulty switch or a short.
My other car is a 480 hp Volvo.

Thanks a lot I'll av a look at that en let you know how I get on :)
