Folks,

anybody got any pics / advice for a fuel filter change for mk 3 Galaxy 2012 Duratorq. I plan to remove filter, empty/clean the reservoir, fill the reservoir with fresh diesel, replace with new filter and then click start button a couple of times (but not start the engine) to engage the fuel pump.  Hence hope i don't need to bleed or draw the system as very unsure how to do this.  I have a vacuum pump that i use to remove the oil from the engine without the need to raise the vehicle and wonder if i need to bleed can i use this tool - if so i would like some advice which connector to attach the vacuum pump to.  hope this all makes sense!

any advice very welcome indeed with pics very welcome too!

thx Stephen

It's pretty straight forward, see 3rd pic in the link below.

Looks like you know the procedure, I didn't fill with diesel purposely because I wanted to see if it would be difficult to start.
I just pressed the button on and off about ten times to prime and it started OK.

Ta very much!  PS in your pic what is the screw like element  black plastic just behind (Right Hand Side) of the big red arrow that labels the Filter Housing - is it used to draw from the filter?

thx again

Didn't try it but could possibly be used to refill housing.

Hi Chris - I believe the fuel lines into the filter have plastic clips that are prone to breaking - is there a magic art to removing the fuel lines? seems that everything is complicated with Ford Galaxy ! Wish I had have kept the VW Sharan - everything was just simple!

Any advice is again more than welcome!

Stephen

I didn't remove the pipes from the cap, there was just enough slack in the pipes to lift the cap to one side.

Hi I took all screws out from the filter but was unsure how to get the filter housing away tried a screwdriver but was afraid to force as this may break the plastic.  Do I have courage and force or is there a secret?

Got the oil filter, air and oil done though!

Filled 5.5 litres of oil and it seems to bypass the max on dipstick.

Max level is not indicated on dipstick and am worried because I only sucked out circa 4 litres.

The cap is probably stuck to the seal so lever it gently

I don't agree with sucking out the old oil as your not going to get the last dregs out also any particles will still be left in the sump[attachimg=1]

I agree with that Chris, its surprising what comes out with a good strong flow out of the sump hole.
