hi guys,I'm in need of some help and advice.
for the past few months there has been a noise coming from the pulley area on my mk2 2.3 2001 galaxy so yesterday i stated to change the idler pulley as i thought that was causing the noise,as i took the tension of the aux drive belt to change the pulley water started to drip  on the ground so i checked the water pump pulley and it has a bit of play in it,well a lot of play in it you can move the pulley from side to side quite a bit, anyway i fitted the new idler pulley and aux belt and the water leak stopped, now
how big of a job is it to do and can a new water pump be fitted without taking the engine out and is there a how to guide
thanks
gazza  ;)

Not actually done this on a 2.3 but below is some basic instructions[attachimg=1]

Of course you will need to support the engine while the mounting is removed.

for 30 ish mins or more and the cooling fans still have not come on any ideas to what has gone pete tong  ;)

Have the car facing up hill or jacked up, leave running with cap off till air has worked it's way out.

Hi all
Yesterday I had to change the water pump on my 2.3 mk2 51 plate galaxy I had lots of play on the pulley so I fitted a new pump what a job that was 😤 I drained the coolant I took off the bottom left hand radiator pipe off,
Then changed the water pump then reconnected the bottom rad pipe then filled with new coolant
Till it got to the max level then I started the car the water started to go through the system now It took about 7 and half liters of coolant the temperature is at 90 where it should be but I have no heating in the cabin as I did before I changed the water pump also the water system must take more than 7 litres of coolant
Hopefully you guys can help
Thank you
Gazza

You should have an electric pump (run on pump) aswell which circulates the rear heater, this is where most of the air will be trapped that's the reason for having the front end higher, check the small return pipe on the coolant bottle, this should be returning a small amount of coolant back to the bottle when engine is running.
