The display panel on the dash
of mk 2 galaxy is only a single small panel
the top half shows usual basic display

bottom half of display is blank
should there be any more info on it?

That's all that is on my 53 reg zetec, guess the rest is for higher spec.

Yup. There are 4 versions.

Ultra low: no display, just icons
Low: half height FIS, top half icons, No MFD
Mid: half height FIS, top half icons, MFD
High: Full height FIS with MFD

MFD refers to the Multi-Function-Display, its basically the trip computer ;)
