My wallet is feeling a bit light so I had to  get some budget tyres, however I'm quietly impressed so far.

4x Accelera Alpha 215 55 zr16 97w XL, @ Ã,£70 per corner fitted.

After my local garage put these on I felt a bit of tyre snobbyness coming on and decided to google them, I unsurprisingly found them a bit cheaper, but I also came across this review CLICKY which doesn't put them firmly last as I expected. I know they're a different size in the review but it gives a fair indication of performance compared to Dunlops and Falkens.

My own personal experience after a week is that they bite very well in the dry, and extremely well in the wet compared to other tyres I've used in the past.

hi mad,
i too have just had 2 fitted last week.a lot of smax owners have gone down this route rather then pay Ã,£180 for 1 on the conti's.
i paid that for the 2.
when i had my old mk2 i came to the thinking that as it is a mpv and not a bloody sports car then why pay out loads on rubber that WEARS very quickly, the dunlops on mine only lasted about 10k on the budgets i had fitted it was about 13-15k,lets face it WE aint driving a roller are we?

I agree it's not going to be driven on the limit so any possible loss in performance is negligible at normal road speed, I have to laugh as there rated at 300kph (180ish mph). As long as they last more than half of the branded tyres I promise I won't smile smugly.

i think you will be pleasently surprised as said previously the budgets on my old gal lasted longer then the premium brands, because there softer a compound.

just to add if it helps anyone, i found that budget tyres last longer i have used some called ling long 215 55 16 XL z they have a v style pattern tread, and i have never been found wanting rain or snow they never slip or slide, road noise is down compared to the other expensive ones i had on. And the price they are was last year Ã,£55.00 each fitted, milage i have gotten on a pair is 18,000 putting then on the back to start then on the front when i had to change the fronts, so for me very good value

where did you get your tyres from at that price bloody bargain me says my local garage want that for part worn for my shalaxy

Hi, I'm running my galaxy in Co.Donegal in Ireland, for the past 4 years I've been using Lassa tyres and I can't fault them for wear or handling. I last bought in October 2011 and they cost me 90 euros each.

I'm running nexen n3000 at the moment.  They have been good so far.  I think they might be getting noisier though as their wear down. Either that or I have a wheel bearing starting to make a slight noise.

Probably need some new tyres towards the end of this year.  I always love seeing a new set of tyres on the car. (but dont like paying for them)

3.2 v6 Touareg with air suspension, xenons, sunroof.  Superb machine!!

Gone. 2002 Sharan V6 4motion in silver.  Heated leather, heated screen, working AC (for now), slightly lowered.

hi to all
I'm running on 215 55 zr16 97w tyres which i have always replaced as they were on the car when i got it, and the tyre people give me them.
so my question is will 225 make a difference apart from my wallet? is it worth it can it be done should it be done, what do you all think? just asking as the tyre people asked why i have the 215 on.

i had 215's on my ghia gal.

215/55/16 are what should be on there, minimum 95 rated and Extra Load (XL).

Changing to 225 makes the width 10mm wider, there's no reason why you can't change to 225 and theoretically it'll make it fractionally more sure footed but that's about it and I doubt you'll notice it.

Tyres for all Galaxy's should be RF/XL (Reinforced / Extra Load) and a minimum index of 95
