The original Galaxy appeared in 1996 on an N plate and ran through to X reg - this is a Mk1 Galaxy.
In 2000 it was face lifted and started on X reg and ran through to 06 plate - this is a Mk2 Galaxy (There was a minor facelift for 53 plates to 06)
In 2006 the Galaxy was completely redesigned, including the chassis - 06 plate cars on - this is a Mk3 Galaxy and removes any link with the VW group.
