Hi Everyone,

hope someone can help me. I bought a Galaxy ghia a few weeks ago and was having problems getting it to recognise the key, after much dodging about trying different metres away etc, it would work! only now, it wont recognise the key at all. I changed the batteries but the engine is now imobilised.
I cant re-programme it using the key (I only have the black one), the LED in the door wont come on. I cant re-programme it in the door as the key wont go in the door, Nor in the boot lock or the passenger door lock! They have all siezed probably from lack of use.
When I put the key in the ignition, it beeps at me five times. the electrics all come on, lights work etc so I know its not the battery, unfortunately that's all I do know. I have never had a car that relies on electrics before...I had an old mercedes sprinter before this!

just to let everyone who has read this and probably groaned...not another key fob query....
I disconnected the battery, waited 20 mins, reconnected it and then after recharging battery, (which I had managed to run down through all my pointless tinkering),  managed to reset it and got it started again. Phew.

Still wont lock the doors though, so will have to use lots of WD40 to try and loosen the door locks.

Good job! I was going to suggest that as the dash beeping is a good indication of battery charge.

Just be careful not to exert too much pressure on the door locks when trying to free them - the paddle is designed to break (supposedly for security) if force is applied.
