dab radio

hey guys.  ok so ive been toying with  the idea of getting a dab radio in the car since i got one for the house. has anybody got one fitted? i was just wondering if a glass mounted aerial would be ok reception wise or should i go for the external aerial? guys

My experience of DAB radios in cars is woefull, they have all been VW systems factory installed with many drop outs and signal dead patches. When DAB gets a weak signal it turns off, unlike FM which just goes crackly.

I would 100% go for a high quality external dab aerial with high gain

Hi Dave my MK3 has the Sony radio fitted, it has a single CD slot and DAB and FM it must use the glass antenna fitted although it may be different from the ones in the MK 1 & 2.
I was expecting the radio to do that scrolling thing like the radio's indoors do but it doesn't but when you put a CD in you get the song title come up on the display.

weve got 1 fitted in the tiguan,to be honest we have never used it,to me it seems a waste.

for the replys guys.  i just found a pioneer with a free windscreen aerial for Ã,£100 notes that i thought was a decent deal.  a family member has a pug 306 and my old sat nav didnt used to get a signal through the glass for some reason so had to use a external aerial for it. just wondering if the same would happen with the galaxy screen with the dab glass aerial?.i know what you mean about signal mirez.  the indoor one does the same thing. still need to get a plug in booster aerial for it

I'm in the same situation having just ordered a pioneer with DAB and Bluetooth. The issue i have is where to stick the aerial considering the windscreen is heated and will interfere with it. I have looked at other options but don't particularly want to start drilling holes if i can help it.

Think a lot of french cars use a anti reflective something or other on the screens, stops phone and satnav signals . Supposed to help with glare/heat

But i may be wrong☺

Yeah they do, if you buy some top end sunglasses with a polarizer in the lens then you'll see all nearly all the Renaults have them as the windscreen appears a bright blue/green colour lol

I have ordered a new Pioneer aerial and i think the best place to put it will be in the rear window. Annoyingly the earthing sticker which goes on the C pillar means it has to be fitted next to the FM aerial to keep it the right way up :-(
